    The Hula Dance

    Provide some hula skirts for the girls and ladies (and the men too if they want to get involved!) and let them have a dance competition. This is great fun for everyone, just keep the mood light.     Come now, we all know the story of Alice in Wonderland and the many dazzling characters portrayed in Lewis Carroll’s story. The Queen of Hearts is one of the more recognizable characters, described by Carroll as a blind fury she is a dangerous and pompous tyrant, and is the deranged ruler of all of Wonderland.     Find The Animal

    Get each child to bring along one of their stuffed animals. Place all of these animals in a pile and explain that they will need to find their own animal in the pile after being blind folded and spun around in circles.

    Invent a Super Hero

    This will work best if you have a large supply of old clothes, Halloween supplies, costumes or dress-ups. The kids can go into the ‘dress-up’ room in pairs for 2 minutes at a time. In this period they need to ‘invent’ their own super hero with the clothes and supplies available to them. They also need to pick a special name and power for their super hero. The kids can then all vote on which super hero was the best.

    Pillowcase Decorating

    Obtain a bunch of relatively cheap white pillow cases and also buy some fabric pens or Sharpie pens in lots of various colors. Give a pillow case to each child, then allow them to draw on each other’s pillow cases and get creative!

    Balloon Volley Ball

    The name pretty much says it all, but a tip is to create a makeshift volley ball court using streamers. Blow up a few balloons and let them play!

    Glow Art

    Put up some butchers paper and cardboard all around the room, as well as some glow in the dark pens and paints. Let the kids draw and write in the light, then turn the lights off and let them examine their artwork as it comes to life in the dark.

    - Set a limit to the number of guests. Eight is a good maximum number.

    It’s that time of the year again, CHRISTMAS IS HERE! If the Christmas period is not a time for celebration, then I don’t know what is. So if you’re organizing a Christmas party, and you want to make it special, giving it a theme is always a fantastic idea and a great way to make this Christmas extra special. Here are some fun and quirky Christmas holiday party themes to sink your teeth into this coming festive season.

    Christmas Party Themes Ideas

     
    Traditional

    There is absolutely nothing wrong with a traditional Christmas! The tree has to be up of course, covered with vivid decorations. Think green and red throughout the house, and you want it to have a warm and cozy atmosphere. Roast turkey and potatoes, with warm luscious gravy near a soft crackling fire? Lovely!

    White Christmas

    What about a white Christmas theme? You can decorate everything in white (including the tree!), and request that everyone come dressed in white clothes. Buy some fake snow to spread around the house, and make sure to use white plates, napkins and table cloth. Wrap the presents under the tree in white wrapping paper too!

    A Costumed Christmas

    Why not arrange for everyone to come in costume? They could come as Santa, or elves, or any other Christmas characters from books and movies. Think traditional but with the added bonus of dressing up!

    Medieval Theme

    You could make the whole Christmas night around a medieval Christmas theme. Do up some invitations on parchment that are made to look old, use a calligraphy pen or do them up on the computer using a nice font. As the party is themed around the medieval or renaissance era, everyone must dress appropriately of course (Kings, Queens, Princes and Jesters!).

    Decorate the house with soft flickering candles and deeply colored table cloths. If you can get a hold of goblet like cups and silver cutlery then definitely use those. Hang up a coat of arms and get the fire blazing for when the guests arrive.

    Movie Themed

    You could set the night around a famous Christmas movie like ‘A Nightmare Before Christmas’ or ‘The Grinch’ or even something like ‘The Polar Express’. This theme can work really well with children if they want to be involved. Watch the films for loads of ideas on how to decorate and what food to serve up.

    Ugly Sweater

    There is one rule to a Christmas ugly sweater party – you must wear an ugly sweater! Get people to visit the local thrift store if they claim they don’t have an ugly sweater (although I’m sure they are lying, everyone has a good old ugly sweater!). Invite lots of different people from different groups of friends and family, and make name tags mandatory. Most importantly, have fun!

    Christmas Down Under

    Why not celebrate Christmas like the Australians do? It’s summer over there during the Christmas period, and they will all be wearing thongs (flip-flops) and having a Barbie (barbeque). You could set it up so everyone wears board shorts and give the whole event a ‘beachy’ theme. Decorate the house with iconic Australian pictures and Santa lazing around in the summer time. Seafood and cold beer is a popular dish for the Christmas menu!

    Winter Wonderland

    Set up a real winter theme in the office environment. Get the children of employees involved to make homemade snowflakes out of white or silver paper, do up a wintry background and make everything white (buy some bulk cotton wool dabs to help achieve this). Think white and silver decorations and it will look great.

    Christmas Casino

    What about a Christmas casino theme? You could mix in a 1940’s theme as well, and have everyone wear older style tuxedos or glamorously vintage dresses. Organize some tables for Texas Hold’Em Poker, Blackjack, and don’t forget the Roulette table!

    A Circus Christmas

    This theme can work really well for corporate picnics. It’s excellent for the kids, hire a magician and some jugglers and acrobats to come and perform. Some of the employees could even dress up as different characters from a circus like a lion tamer, or a strong man or maybe a trapeze artist. Set up some face painting and other fun activities for the kids.
